Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

How much do you charge for your adoption fees?

A:

Dog adoption fee is $150. Cat adoption fee is $100.

Q:

What does the adoption fee include?

A:

When you adopt a pet from AARF, they will be current on their vaccinations, will have been checked for parasites, will have been spayed or neutered, or if the animal is too young, you will receive a voucher for their spay/neuter by a participating veterinarian.

Q:

Why do you do a home check before allowing an adoption?

A:

AARF volunteers try to place animals in a home environment that is suitable for the individual needs of each pet. Size and temperament of the animals are carefully considered as are the needs and constraints of their prospective families.

Q:

Why might I be turned down on an adoption application?

A:

AARF Volunteers take into consideration many factors when reviewing adoption applications, including the animal's age, size, and temperament, and the living environment that you have to offer.

Our desire is to find a good match between pets and their new families. It is hard on animals and people alike if an animal is adopted and then later returned to AARF because
it did not work out in the home.

You may be rejected for a specific pet because the AARF Adoption Counselor does not believe the home environment is best for that particular animal.

Another AARF animal may be a possible consideration, or we may refer you to other local rescue organizations if our conselors feel that none of our animals are suited to your cirumstance.

Q:

I don't have much money to give, and I can't foster or adopt. Is there anything else I can do to help AARF?

A:

Absolutely! Please link to our volunteer and donate pages to see how you can help animals by donating your time, old cell phones, or housewares for our rummage sales, etc.

Also, you can encourage people you know to adopt pets from rescue organizations like AARF.

We greatly appreciate your interest in helping to save needy animals in our community!
