AARF Adoption Process

Complete adoption application form

Come to our Saturday adoption fairs and meet your
new best friend. If you decide that you want to adopt one
of the AARF animals, the first step is to fill out
an application form.

An adoption application must be completed and approved,
and an adoption contract is signed detailing the quality of
care you'll be required to provide for your new pet.

Adoption application forms can be picked up at the
Saturday adoption fairs or can be downloaded from the
bottom of this page. Follow the instructions on the PDF
to submit an application electronically.

Vet Reference & home visit

AARF Adoption Counselors will contact your veterenarian
as a reference to confirm the level of care that your
prospective pet can expect.

AARF Adoption Counselors do routine home visits for all dog adoptions to assure that their living environment is well suited
to the particular animal hoping to be adopted.

Home visits are usually done within a week of receiving
an adoption application.

Once your application is approved and fee paid, pets can
be picked up at the next Saturday adoption fair.

Adoption Fee

An adoption fee of $150 for dogs and $100 for cats has been established to help defray medical expenses and spay/neuter.

Medical Status

All animals at the AARF adoption fairs have been examined
by a licensed veterinarian and given age-appropriate
vaccinations (including rabies). Additionally, they have
been tested for Feline leukemia and FIV (cats/kittens), and Heartworm (dog/puppies) as vet recommends.

If the animal you are interested in adopting is too young for
a spay/neuter at the time of adoption, you will receive a
voucher to take your new pet to a participating AARF vet
for these services.
